Protecting People and the Planet: Meet ECOBALLIFE

October 21

Can sustainable protection systems also be lighter, longer-lasting and just as safe? That’s the question behind ECOBALLIFE, a project working on lightweight, durable and more sustainable protection. From 21 to 23 October 2026, you can talk to the team about it in person at FUTURE FORCES FORUM in Prague.

Meet ECOBALLIFE at the Innovation Pavilion

You’ll find us at Stand 530 in the Innovation Pavilion, Hall 5, at PVA EXPO PRAGUE.

Stop by to learn what the project is about, look at selected ECOBALLIFE results and samples, and talk directly to the people who work on it. You don’t need a background in protection technology. If you’re curious how this kind of equipment is made, and what it could look like in the future, you’re welcome at the stand.

Why we need more sustainable protection systems

Protection systems are built to do one job above all: keep people safe. That is not up for negotiation. But like any product, they are made from materials, they have to be manufactured, and at some point they reach the end of their life.

That raises some very practical questions. Can we make protection lighter, so it’s easier to wear and carry? Can we make it last longer, so less has to be replaced? And can we think about what happens at the end, so that valuable materials aren’t simply thrown away?

These are the questions ECOBALLIFE works on. The goal is not to trade safety for sustainability. It’s to find solutions where the two go together.

Join the workshop on 21 October

On the first day of the event, 21 October, ECOBALLIFE also invites you to the Future Sustainable Protection Systems workshop, part of the Future Forces Exhibition & Forum.

The workshop continues the conversation about sustainability and circularity in protection, both for people (personal protection) and for vehicles and other platforms (platform protection). It brings together people from different parts of the field to share what they’re working on, what’s difficult, and where the opportunities are.

Some of the big questions on the table:

  • Sustainability versus performance: How can sustainability requirements be introduced without compromising safety and reliability?
  • Security of supply: How can Europe become more resilient when it comes to critical materials and manufacturing?
  • Circular economy: Where are the practical opportunities for reuse, repair, refurbishment, recycling and material recovery?

Come and say hello

Whether you work in the field, are simply curious, or have a question you’ve always wanted to ask, come and find us. Some of the best conversations happen at the stand, and often outside the formal programme.

We look forward to meeting you in Prague! 👋
