INDHEAP M30 Meeting in Nicosia
October 14The INDHEAP consortium met in Nicosia, Cyprus, on 14–15 October 2026 for its M30 meeting, hosted by The Cyprus Institute. The two-day programme combined technical discussions, project planning and visits to the PROTEAS research facility and Petrou Bros Dairy Products.
The meeting brought project partners together to review the progress achieved across the INDHEAP work packages, align ongoing activities and coordinate the next steps towards demonstrating integrated renewable heat and power solutions for industry.
INDHEAP is developing a hybrid system that combines solar thermal and photovoltaic technologies with electrically boosted thermal energy storage and advanced control strategies. The aim is to support the decarbonisation of industrial processes requiring heat at temperatures of up to 250°C, while improving energy efficiency and reducing dependence on fossil fuels.

Reviewing progress and planning the next steps
During the first day, partners presented the progress made over the previous six months and discussed the activities planned for the next phase. The sessions covered all areas of the project, from industrial-site assessments and the development of the hybrid renewable energy system to demonstration, replication, exploitation, communication and project coordination.
The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange updates, strengthen coordination between the different technical activities and review how the project’s technologies can be integrated to meet the heat and power needs of industrial processes. Partners also discussed progress at the demonstration and replication sites, shared the latest developments on key system components and aligned priorities for the work ahead.
Particular attention was given to ensuring that the project’s technical developments, modelling activities and site assessments continue to support a coherent approach to industrial decarbonisation. These discussions will help guide the next stages of the project and contribute to the development of recommendations for the future integration and replication of INDHEAP solutions in different industrial settings
Exploring research and industrial applications in Cyprus
The second day combined focused workshops with two technical visits: the PROTEAS research facility and Petrou Bros Dairy Products.
The visit to the PROTEAS facility introduced partners to renewable energy research infrastructure relevant to the project’s work on solar technologies and thermal-energy applications.

At Petrou Bros Dairy Products, partners toured the factory, learned about the company’s history and gained insight into its production activities. The visit also provided a valuable opportunity to better understand the industrial setting of one of INDHEAP’s replication sites and the practical context in which the project’s renewable heat and power solutions are being assessed.

Moving towards the next phase
The M30 meeting helped the consortium align the technical work required for the next phase of INDHEAP. The priorities discussed included continuing component development and testing, consolidating the modelling results, advancing the integrated system design and coordinating the engineering information needed for the demonstrator.
The partners also reviewed ongoing exploitation and communication activities. INDHEAP will continue sharing its progress and results through its website, social media, publications, events and Zenodo community, while developing materials to support the future uptake and replication of its technologies.
Looking ahead, the consortium will focus on planning the demonstration activities, advancing the technical work and coordinating the next steps towards the integration of the INDHEAP system at the demonstration site.
A special thank you goes to Giorgos Papakokkinos and the entire team at The Cyprus Institute for the warm welcome, excellent organisation and coordination of the visits. The INDHEAP consortium also thanks all partners for their valuable contributions and continued collaboration.
As a partner in INDHEAP, AMIRES is responsible for the project’s administrative management and leads its communication and dissemination activities, supporting effective consortium coordination and the visibility of the project’s progress and results.
