Driving Collaboration and Innovation in Europe’s Quantum Landscape at EQTC 2025

November 17

AMIRES at EQTC: Our Quantum Team was thrilled to participate in the European Quantum Technologies Conference (EQTC) 2025, held in Copenhagen. This Europe’s flagship quantum event brought together over 1,000 participants from across the globe.

Key Highlights from EQTC 2025

  • Dynamic Booth Presence: Our booth attracted constant attention, fostering impactful discussions with partners, innovators, and policymakers.
  • Successful Side Event: The AMIRES-hosted session on Diamond Quantum Technology exceeded expectations, drawing nearly 60 participants, well beyond the room’s capacity.
  • Engaging Panel Discussions: Our panel sparked lively debates on real-world applications of diamond-based quantum technologies.
  • Showcasing Our Portfolio: AMIRES projects—including QU-TEST & QU-PILOT, Quench, SPINUS, and PROMISE—were featured in poster sessions while partners were actively contributing to the vibrant community dialogue.

Side Event Spotlight

As quantum technologies advance toward market-ready applications, diamond-based platforms are emerging as a key enabler of scalable, stable, and commercially viable quantum devices. At EQTC 2025, AMIRES hosted a dedicated session exploring the full landscape of diamond quantum technologies, from cutting-edge research to industrial deployment, drawing nearly 60 participants- far exceeding the room capacity. The session gathered leading scientists, technology developers, and industry adopters to discuss:

-Latest scientific advancements in materials, device engineering, and system integration
-High-impact applications, especially in quantum sensing and quantum computing
-Pathways to commercialization, bridging lab prototypes with scalable products for industry

Speakers

Xavier Vidal (Tecnalia) – Magnetometry for material characterization and biomedical applications
Dominik Bucher (Technical University of Munich) – Quantum-enhanced benchtop NMR (QUENCH)
Milos Nesladek (University of Hasselt / imec) – Magnetometry for non-destructive testing, remote monitoring, and space applications
Martin Köppenhofer (Fraunhofer IAF) – Applications of color centers in quantum computing and simulation
Paolo Traina (INRIM) – Standardization efforts in diamond quantum technology

High-Level Support for Quantum

EQTC 2025 underscored Europe’s strong commitment to quantum technologies. The event welcomed H.M. King Frederik X of Denmark, the European Commission Vice-President Henna Virkkunen, and Danish ministers, signaling political momentum behind the upcoming Quantum Act and national programme alignment.

As Henna Virkkunen highlighted, public consultation on the Quantum Act is now open. At AMIRES, we are ready to contribute through a joint position paper with the European Quantum Industry Consortium (QuIC).

Key Messages from the Conference

  1. Collaboration as a Strength: Speakers emphasized Europe’s collaborative approach as a foundation for resilience and sustainable growth in the quantum industry.
  2. Industrial Adoption and Use Cases: Industry leaders stressed the need for public funding to translate into real-world applications that attract customers and investors.
  3. Standardization for Market Growth: As quantum technologies mature, standardization emerged as a critical topic. AMIRES will continue to champion this through projects like QU-TEST & QU-PILOT, ensuring Europe leads in setting global standards.

Looking Ahead

EQTC 2025 reaffirmed the collaborative spirit and strategic vision driving Europe’s quantum ecosystem. With the Quantum Act on the horizon and strong international engagement, the future of quantum in Europe looks promising.

A big thank you to everyone who connected with AMIRES at EQTC. Exciting times ahead for Europe’s quantum community!
