Czech R&D Mission to Canada: Unlocking Horizon Europe Opportunities

AMIRES was proud to take part in the largest-ever Czech R&D mission to Canada, a delegation that brought together leading Czech research institutions and Canadian innovation hubs across six cities: Ottawa, Montreal, Toronto, Hamilton, Waterloo, and Edmonton.

Our CEO, Rudolf Fryček, represented AMIRES in the Czech R&D mission to Canada and contributed to high-level discussions on international collaboration, focusing on unlocking the potential of Horizon Europe for Canadian partners.

Key Highlights from the Mission

  • Toronto hosted the flagship event, Unlocking Horizon Europe, co-organised by the Czech Consulate GeneralDelegation of the EU to CanadaCzechInvest, and AMIRES. The event spotlighted:
    • Opportunities in the upcoming Horizon Europe Work Programme 2026–2027
    • Practical guidance for Canadian institutions on accessing EU funding
    • Concrete project ideas in Engineering and Life Sciences
  • The mission fostered new connections in biotechsustainability, and advanced technologies, with visits to:
    • McMaster University, University of Toronto, University of Alberta
    • MaRS Discovery District, ventureLAB, Communitech, Amii, and more
