Big news: EU Proposes €175 Billion for FP10 Programme!
July 21The European Commission has unveiled its proposal for the next Framework Programme for Research and Innovation (FP10 programme), allocating a record-breaking €175 billion for the 2028–2034 period.
This nearly doubles the current Horizon Europe budget and reaffirms the EU’s commitment to scientific excellence, innovation, and global competitiveness.
The FP10 programme structure is – €409 billion European Competitiveness Fund (ECF) – around four key pillars:
- Excellent Science
- Competitiveness and Society
- Innovation
- European Research Area
The European Research Council (ERC) is set to see its budget doubled, while the European Innovation Council (EIC) will receive triple its current funding. Meanwhile, the draft work programmes for Horizon Europe 2026–2027 have been released, offering insights into upcoming calls and funding priorities
These drafts cover all major clusters, including Health, Digital & Industry, Climate & Mobility, and more. Organizations are aligning their project ideas and forming strategic consortia to stay ahead in an increasingly competitive funding landscape.
